This holiday season looks quite different for the world. Here at Sam Houston there was no Tree of Lights and no Christmas caroling. The Open house at the Parsonage was cancelled, but the students at the SHSU Wesley Foundation have not given up their Christmas spirit.
Our students started the holiday season with the Thanksgiving potluck. After the break, the students celebrated the Tree of Lights virtually in the living room. Wednesday night was our Christmas and final worship service. We sang Christmas carols and lit the advent wreath candles together to start our holiday traditions. Thursday night, we celebrated Christmas with our annual sock exchange and the “roasting” of our graduating seniors. This moment is treasured by all members of the Wesley as we look back at all the fun times we have celebrated over the course of our years at Sam. Friday started our first day of Finals, and thus our first night of finals games. Saturday night the Wesley watched and participated in the annual Christmas parade. On Sunday, the girls had their annual Secret Santa at the Wesley and the boys celebrated a guys night. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday lunch was served at the Wesley and a finals game was played each night.
The year concludes with lots of laughter, nights around a campfire, dinners shared, games played, and memories made. The state of the pandemic may be unknown, but the SHSU Wesley Foundation has made itself completely clear. We are still here.
