This time of year is very busy here at the Wesley Foundation. Not only do the holidays mean lot of Christmas events, but it also means FINALS Week. Our students have been working very hard all semester for this final week of classes and it shows. Along with studying, the students have been involved in many other activities throughout the holiday season.
Right before the students left for Thanksgiving, they made Christmas cookies to deliver to the Cops here in Huntsville that put in so much hard work to keep us safe. The Wesley was fully decorated to start the Christmas season and to kick off the start of finals. Sunday night, our ladies had their annual Secret Santa gift exchange, watched a movie, and played some games together. On Tuesday, our students went to the Tree of Lights ceremony and hung an ornament for the Wesley on the Sam Houston Tree of Lights. After the ceremony, the students came back to the Wesley for a campfire, smores, and hot cocoa. Wednesday was the final worship of 2019, and the last service for our four seniors. Our annual Christmas photo was taken and the team enjoyed singing some Christmas songs together. Thursday night was our Christmas Party with a White Elephant Sock Exchange and a ham dinner. Friday morning a few of our council members headed to Sam’s to shop for the Finals Food for all our students. The group went Christmas Caroling on Saturday at Creekside Retirement Home. We sang a few songs and talked with the residents for a while. Later that afternoon, a group of us watched the Huntsville Christmas Parade drive down Sam Avenue and catch a few pieces of thrown candy. Finally, Sunday night the group came over to the Parsonage for dinner and to meet the Wesley council members.
Now our students are ready to tackle their big week of Finals and Finals games. We truly are blessed here at the Wesley to have all our wonderful students and staff. It is a blessing that we are truly thankful for at this time of the year. Merry Christmas and God Bless.
